I love Roses

Went to the home depot today 1.23.21. I was not planning on going to the outdoor back section, but decided to go see. They had LOADS of roses in packages. I felt my eyes budge when I saw them.

Mostly all my roses died last summer and I have no idea why. Ever since we moved into this house, we had a 'his and hers' we got from Trader's Village. That was back in 2003!) Mine died first, around 2017. I think ants got to them. I managed to save my honey's for 3 more years.

I had a total of 5 rose bushes in pots, then bought a white rose online, just last year - mid summer. I planted it in the ground and planted 2 more next to them. I guess roses and mid summer planting is a no go, because none of those 3 survived.
I noticed they all started getting black too. Maybe too much fertilizer? I didn't ever use it more than once a year. I tried a little more this year... so I blame that. I managed to save one. The small, red, front yard rose. It was huge, and had to be cut back to just one tiny twig left. But it's still alive!
So far it's still blooming, and growing. I hope it comes back bigger than it was.
The hun hates roses, I don't know why. But he is okay with me having them. I am a big fan. Roses remind me of grandma and mom. I told him to help me pick one, so he got the voodoo one. He was hurrying me up, so I just went with the traditional red rose. Later on I decided that I also wanted a lilac one so we went back this weekend and got one more... (I even got matching pots for them!)
I MAY or may not get one more... a white maybe? or yellow?! Not sure. Let's see if the hun doesn't get mad first for getting all these roses hahah!
$6.98 each + 2 bags of dirt $10 each + 3 pots at $10 ea.

OHHH! I did buy one in the beginning of fall 20202 when all mine were completely goners. It's a light rose color that after a while turns to white. I'll need to look for that tag to post it...
So with that said, I now have - 5 roses again!

Philodendron 'Tiger Tooth'

Also Known as the Jungle Boogie. This was my last purchase of 2020. I got this one online at Gabriella Plants. It was a very good experience and I totally LOVED this plant. Since day one, once it came out the box it became one of my top 10!
I can honestly say I am obsessed! When I wake up,the first thing I do right after I open the blinds and curtains is take a good look at this one. Those leaves are just too pretty! The shape is amazing to look at. I love all the curves it has. Truly looks like a tooth of some sort.
This is her second leaf since she's been home. So I'm guessing she's a pretty fast grower? She came in a 4 inch starter pot - tiny, I know! ...and I recently repotted her. My hun bought me this really cute pot for it. I decided to plant it in a plastic container, then just place that in the ceramic. I feel my plants do better in plastic than in ceramic.
The ceramic pots are TOO cute tho, so I buy them to insert the plastic container in them.
Let's see how big my Jungle Boogie gets by the summer time... I hope I don't have to repot too soon. Or if she grows too fast, I may have to propagate and put them together for a fuller look.

Andasonii

SUPER excited about this find. It was the day I bought the roses. I didn't want to add on another plant because what happened to 'not being a chiflada' this year with plants?
Plus I 'already have one' ...but mine doesn't look like this?! Mine is smaller, softer leaves?!
I'm standing there at THD where they have about 10 of these, but confused as to why does mine look different if it's supposed to be an andasonii?!
The hun is all "Just take one! If you don't, there won't be anymore then I'll be like 'I told you so' like always!" My hard headed ass didn't take one. So all through the way to pay and the way home, I kept talking about 'WHY does this plant look different? I really like it!! Dang. I should have bought one!'
You can imagine my hun's face LMAO!
Luckily, some item we bought did not work for what we needed it ( safe for gun) so we went back to return that, so I used that $ to buy myself THIS plant!
There was a lady with 4 andasonii's in her cart at that time, Like WHY?!?! I went, looked around, picked one and let's go! This is the little beauty I was leaving behind. I am so GLAD the hun took me back that same night. Because, we've been back and there is no more! I am sure they were gone by the following day.
$20.55 - Isn't that an amazing price too?!

Philodendron Birkin

I said 2021, I wouldn't buy so many plants. Here's my first buy.
Since last year I'd see Birkin's & think 'Ehhh, next time...' Well, I've seen more and more online then thought,  'Wow. It really is pretty!' So guess what. That ended up being a wish list plant.
My honey ugh! I can't mention wanting a certain plant because he's all 'let's go see if they have one'! So he took me to THD and yes, they had 2.
$18.99 ($20.55 w tax) and she's home with me.
My first plant of '21. The philodendron Birkin.

LOVE the design on the leaves. Very unique!

Ok. I'm back

Yes, Yes. I know. I made the account, updated it... then forgot about it again. SORRY! Sometimes other things get in the way. Like updating my plant stuff on Instagram instead. Why? Because it's easier and faster.
Orrr, working on my plant book - because it was my first one and it had to be perfect. I think I will only create that one book because that's too many books. My family year books already take about 200 pages, so you imagine what I am paying for those each year.
I am sure if I let myself I can make a 200 page plant book, that I won't.
But OK! I am here now, I have started THIS new account (transferred everything to here) and deleted the one where I had it before. I am going to TRY and document all my plant stuff on my blog again.
I will also try to update my family blog, instead of just having the book created each year for that.
My Instagram page is Beli.theplant.ladi but I was thinking about changing it to BelilaPlants to match the blog.
So find me there. There may be more stuff added there.

Enjoy!

That Mexican KeyLime tree freeze

I am very concerned for my Mexican KeyLime tree. This winter storm that lasted 1 wk was really harsh on my citrus trees. They're all too...
