If you don't believe in the evil eye, let me tell you why you should...
My chisme plant was huge! It was also blooming those little hot pink flowers left and right. It was SO beautiful and by far my favorite plant owned.
I would wake up each morning and the first thing I'd do is look outside to see THIS particular plant. To see HOW may flowers did it have 'today'. It made my day great! It felt SO nice to see that plant SOOO pretty!
One day it all just started drying up, more and more (Someone must have thought 'what a beautiful plant' too - and didn't 'touch' it - that's an evil eye thing, yes it is.)
Just last wk I noticed a little piece of greens growing off the side, I ALMOST yanked it out because it was SO green, that I didn't think it was party of that same plant. I just left it alone just in case. I took out some of the more dried up looking sections out. Then last night, I looked at it and thought, 'Maybe this pot is too big for what's left so I yanked out the rest of the dead looking parts and just repotted this new growth in a smaller pot. I arranged a few of my pots to make space for this one. I had it in the middle of the sun for about 6+ hours of the day. I didn't think that was the reason the other section died out. I thought too much water?? Then I thought 'Well lately, we've had a heat advisory for all our southern Texas area' Lasted weeks with this blistering heat. Maybe it was WAY too hot for it.
Last year it was in the shade all year long. I didn't think I'd see a flower for a while.
Well, what do you know?!!!! It had no tiny bud that indicated a flower would bloom, and so fast! I guess she loved me repotting her and moving her to a different spot, that she greeted me with this cute little flower today! πΈπ
I.Love.It.
Bummed in the afternoons when they close for the day.
The
Chisme (Portulaca Pilosa) is my absolute favorite. This is my second
one & I've managed to have it for 2 years now! It was so tiny when I
bought it, in its tiny little pot. I re-potted it and it grew so much.
I
love the spring and summer times when all the little flowers open and
close as the day goes by. Today it had its first flower of the year. Too
bad I caught the photo in the evening when it closed. Soon I'll see all
the little flowers open and close again.
